DESPITE the strong wind the winners, in Tavistock Lady Captain’s Prize Day event, produced some good results. 

In the silver division Dawn Dennis was first with 40 points, second Hilary Picton with 37pts and third Donna Gage with 36pts.  

Top in bronze division one was Carolyn Crawford with an excellent 45pts, second Marilyn Allen with 42pts on count back from Joy Harrison.  In bronze division two first Barbara Porter 36pts, second Sue Eastwood 35pts, third Val Facey 34 pts. 

Nearest the pin on the seventh, Dawn Phillott; nearest the pin in two on the 14th, June Kendall.   

In the monthly Stableford  Dawn Dennis scored 37pts to top division one, second Maggie Hillman 35pts, third Fran Horton 32 pts on count back from Sally Hills.  First in division two, Jenny Kay 39 pts, second Ginny Samborne 35pts on count back from Jill Millichamp.

With the great score of 42pts Janet Kiely was first in division three, second Anne Dawson 38pts and third Jenny Roe 34pts. 

The lady veterans have started their trophy season with Shirley Trevenna winning the Betty Truscott Plate and Pat Pope the 125 Cup.

Paul Mace and Colin Nolan took the honours in the Par and Kelly Bowls competition. 

There were excellent scores in the men veterans George Bailey Trophy (six clubs and a putter) — first in division one Mike Beveridge nett 65, second John Berry nett 66 on count back from Ian Osborne.  Tony Cooper with a nett 68 was first in division two on count back from Mike Ridley, third was Paul Mace on nett 69.
