CAITLIN storms Florida — no, this isn’t the latest weather front to hit our shores but it is a storm that’s hitting the beaches of Florida.

To be precise it’s Daytona Beach and the storm is Caitlin Evans-Brand, a junior golfer at Yelverton Golf Club. Before travelling to the United States she won the club championships, competed for Devon County and the Welsh National Ladies team at the Home Internationals. Finishing on the winners podium was common place for Caitlin and this habit has continued whilst in America. In the LadyCat Invitational in Daytona Beach Florida, Caitlin led the field for a good part of the three day competition. A strong final round from two fellow competitors saw Caitlin take third place just one shot behind the joint winners. Shooting rounds of -4, +1 and -2 has now put her amongst the best in just her first year in America. So it’s all set for an exciting year ahead for Caitlin and all her supporters at Yelverton Golf Club.

Good scores were returned by the Yelverton ladies this week but the real winner was the high winds which battered the course and made playing conditions challenging.
