THROUGHOUT the season at Tavistock Golf Club there were several men veterans v lady veterans matches but the Trevena/Congo Trophy is slightly different.
Partners are drawn so there is always an element of surprise tinged with apprehension!
This year the two vice captains, Chris Henderson and Sally Timpson, were drawn as partners and scored an excellent 47 points to win the trophy. It was, as usual, a great fun day!
It was probably the worst winds of the year when 16 pairs played for the Foster Ferris Trophy.
Despite the weather Nick Coe and Dan Harris scored an excellent 41pts on countback from Ian Jasinsley and Mark Cottingham. In third place Alan Gawman and Lynn Swifton 39 pts on count back from Barry Shipton and Gene Thompson.
In the ladies’ Caddy Trophy Stableford Dawn Phillott was first in division one to win the trophy with 40 pts. Dawn Dennis was second in the division with 34 pts on count back from Maggie Hillman. In division two first was Peggy Burge 34pts, second Sybil Cole 32pts and third Janet Kiely 3 pts. Sue Pratley scored 38pts to top division three; second Nicola Ormond with 33 pts on count back from Jackie Sealey.
