THE Tavistock Golf Club Juniors have had a successful season  and their annual match against the men veterans resulted in another victory when they won three and a half to two and a half.

The vets' captain Dan Pratley praised the juniors on their win in such a hard fought match. 

In the President's prize for novices ( 28+ handicap and played over nine holes) Tobias Clifford-Flower was first with 19 points, second Tom Wood 18pts and third Luis Inacio with 16 pts. 

In the competitive annual match between the club captain and secretary the secretary's team had a superb win of 10 and a half to 7 and a half - only their second win in nine years! 

The Freeman Cup, for players who had won a medal in the last 12 months, was played in conjunction with the qualifying round for the Hampshire Cup.  Rod Hillman had a great round with a nett 66 to top division one; second Rich Potts nett 71 and third was Richard Smith with nett 75. Scoring was tight in division two with Ian Cooper on nett 73; second Ian Osborne nett 74 and Viv Wilton and nett 75. In division three first was Jerry Bawden nett 75; second Dave Stratton nett 77 and third Barry Shipton nett 78. 

Winner of the Freeman Cup was junior Will Stenhouse.  The Bill Briant Trophy played for by the men veterans was won by Roger Short with a nett 69; runner up was Paul Congo with nett 72 on countback from David Young.

55 ladies played in the monthly Stableford played in conjunction with the Caddies Trophy.  In division one Jayne Wright had 36pts on countback from Liz Lyndon; third was Nicky Gawman with 35 pts. First in division two was Rosemary Rae with 39pts, second Lyn Swift 38 pts, third Sam Avens 36 pts.  Joy Tynan was first in division three with 34pts, second Jenny Kay on 32pts on cuntback from Pat Pope.   Winner of the Caddies Trophy was Lyn Swift.  Bev Ruth, in the Wycisk Cup competition, won the cup with nett 76; runner up was Bridget Luckham with nett 76.
