GOLF B came the closest yet this season to securing a win in the Tavistock Snooker League as they agonisingly lost out in a ‘black ball’ final frame decider against West Devon D.
Goble nearly gave Golf the lead as he came very close to dislodging West Devon dangerman Paul Shrimpton in the first of the black ball games. Gawman enjoyed his first ever league win for Golf B as he secured the second of the black ball games to edge out Murton and pull his side level. There was no such luck for Golf B’s Treble as he came up against an in form Ward, who carried on his winning ways.
Back again came Golf B with Brockington taking the third of the ‘black ball’ games to overcome some stern resistance form West Devon D’s Peters.
So it was that it came down to two veterans of each team to decide it, Congo for Golf B and Decieco for West Devon D. With nothing between the two it was fitting that yet another ‘black ball’ game should decide it, this time in favour of Decieco to the delight of West Devon D.
As the new team in the league, Golf B are starting to show signs of settling and starting to push their opponents further.
Conservative B are starting to put a bit of a run together with back to back 4-1 wins, this time at the expense of West Devon C.
It was not all plain sailing in the first frame with Boyd for West Devon C taking Neale to the black ball before Neale secured it.
Con B’s McKechnie had it a bit easier though as he was only playing Elliott and duly delivered the second frame to the Con B’s cause.
A brief fightback for West Devon C came in the shape of Williams who controlled his frame against Ewings to reduce the deficit for his team.
Back to business though for the Con’s in the next two frame, with Lillicrap having little trouble in overcoming Shrimpton, followed by Moloney making it four for the Con’s with more of a testing frame against Grigg.
