THE weekend was a busy time for members of Bere Alston Trekkers who took part in two events.

The Brighton Marathon saw four Bats taking part.  With a route along Brighton beach front this popular marathon offers an incredible running experience.

The route is fast, on tarmac, traffic-free roads with spectators lining most of the route and starts with a loop of Preston Park, continues past Brighton Pavilion taking in the best of the city centre, boasts panoramic views where the glorious South Downs meet the English Channel and finishes along the seafront through thousands of cheering spectators.

First Bat home was Murray Turner who, after a solid winter's training, ran an absolutely excellent race and finished in a great time.

Next home was Dave Adams who continues to run strong and Simon Griffiths was the third Bat home and ran a four minute course personal best.

The lone lady Bat was Pam Adams.

Pam's training had not gone according to plan due to surgery on her hand earlier in the year. However, this did not hold her back as she ran a really strong event to also finish in a brilliant time. The 31st Taunton half marathon is one lap which starts and finishes at the Somerset College of Arts and Technology in Wellington Road, Taunton.

The course is undulating with hills at mile 11. Once the hills are conquered it is a fast downhill and flat romp to the finish.  Bat Ben Neale ran a great event to finish in 1.22.33 and 12th overall.
