TAVISTOCK College Year 7 football team has won the Devon Co-operative school football tournament.

The college entered two football teams into the tournament which saw 16 teams from various schools compete. The group of year 7s from Tavistock College were split into two teams named Team A and Team B. The teams competed in different groups, which each had six teams.

In the five group games both teams finished by winning four games, drawing one and losing none. Team A and Team B both won their respective group stage.

Both teams reached the semi-finals; however, Team B just missed out on the final when the lost to Cullumpton in a close match which ended in a 1-0 score.

Tavistock A Team then went on to beat Cullompton in the final with a 2-0 triumph, making them tournament champions.

Coach Shaun Hulbert said: ‘The style of football and character shown by both teams was fantastic and very impressive. As you can see by the results, there were tremendous performances. Congratulations to all of the boys involved. They were an absolute credit to the college. Determination, teamwork and desire to achieve clearly on show.’
