MOUNT Kelly swimmers started the 2019 Devon County Championships with great success, claiming a total of 12 gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals across the weekend.

Stand out swims came from Sophie Main, who won both the senior and junior titles in the 800m freestyle, and Matthew Hargreaves, who won the junior title in the 200m individual medley.

Mount Kelly had further success at the National Winter Meet in Sheffield, placing swimmers in 41 finals, second only to Loughborough University. Particular highlights were their swimmers’ victories in the new Challenge 68 Event – in which they took both first and second place – and the MK girls’ relay team who achieved three silver medals against some strong senior programmes.

It has been an impressive start to the season for Mount Kelly Hockey and netball teams. At the weekend, the 1st XI hockey team earned wins in a triangular fixture with West Buckland and Truro School and went on to beat Taunton 5-1 in a midweek game. Meanwhile, the U16 and U15 netball teams performed well against Saltash.net, ending in a victory for the U16s. The first Prep matches of the season against Exeter Cathedral School also produced some excellent results.
