Lamerton 3

Lanivet Inn 1

LAMERTON faced a tricky test at home against an in-form Lanivet side who were unbeaten in the league.

Matty Davidson away Mark Lewis slotted into the right back position for Lamerton.

The match seemed like a long ball game with both teams trying to camp the ball in each others half.

The home side had the lion share of the first half with Elliot Blatchford going close on a few occasions, and wingers Blair Vanstone and Sam Hicks were a constant threat and also came close.

The Lamerton defence was outstanding - Paul Breyley conducting his teammates in Lee Lewis, Daryl Panter and Mark Lewis to stay strong and fight for everything.

The match was all square going into the break.

In the second half Lamerton tried to keep the ball on the floor and adopt their one-two passing style; Connor Phillips, Jamie Court and Paul Cowling in midfield worked tirelessly and Blatchford as a lone striker with some good hold up play.

The first goal eventually came when Vanstone fired in a corner which was headed back to Blatchford who smashed home.

Lanivet bounced back with a rare shot on goal but Mike Waldren was on the post to block it with his foot.

With the flow of play still in favour of the home side, man of the match Lee Lewis ran from defence passed to substitute Graham Galway, who slotted the ball to man of the match Lewis who arrowed the ball past the out rushing goalkeeper.

Spurred on by this, Lamerton got their third after great chasing down by Cowling, who battled two defenders before passing to substitute Oliver Gourd who waltzed passed two players to slip the ball in the bottom corner.

Lamerton keeper Josh McDonald was superb in goal for lamerton, with great punching, catching and pin point kicking, but a mix up in defence saw Lanivet Inn score a consolation goal to finish 3-1.
