Activate 4

TOP of the league Tavistock Community Football Club ladies kicked off against second placed Activate in what was set to be a competitive game.

The match started evenly with both teams having good chances, however, it was the visitors who scored the first goal when Activate made a pass through the defence to leave the attacker one on one with the Tavistock goalie.

There was some good link up play by Tavistock’s Donna Hone, Becky McMullin, Gemma Small and Heidi Davies, and goalkeeper Zoe Stock made some good saves at the feet of the Activate attackers. Tavistock went into half time 1-0 down, however the score did not reflect the hard work by the home side.

The second half saw the introduction of Becky Gordon on the left wing, Jess Eales and Wallis Ryan at left back. Tavistock made a good start with some good attacking play by Becky Gordon, Becky Turner and Eleanor Mills-Hicks, and Carleigh Bammens and Chelsea Starbuck were strong in defence. However, Activate scored a further three goals on the break and against the run of play.

Tavistock finished the match with a goal by Becky McMullin from a well hit shot just outside the box. However, the final score, 1-4, did not reflect what was an evenly matched game.
