WITH both teams undefeated, taking maximum points from the games played this season, this was always going to be a close contest. It produced a terrific game of football for the large crowd during last week’s mid week fixture.

Both teams played an attacking formation, making the football really exciting as the game flowed from end to end.

Parkway started well playing some good possession football, but it was Tavistock who had the first scoring opportunity when Ben Cross produced a perfect pass but Glynn Hobbs was denied by Dean Smith. Minutes later, Parkway won a corner kick and a goalmouth scramble followed but Josh Robins was on hand to make a goal line clearance. Minutes later from a Lambs’ corner kick Lewis Daw’s header flashed inches over the bar.

Tavistock keeper Josh Oak then made a great save to deny Thompson from opening the scoring for the visitors.

In the 30th minute the Lambs thought they had got the breakthrough when following a free kick a cross from Shane Krac was forced home by Warren Daw, but it was overruled for off-side.

Parkway continued to press forward a created some good openings but Oak in the home goal was in superb form making good saves from Davey and Colwell. His counterpart was in equally inspiring form making saves from Hobbs, Ricki Shepherd, Luke Brown and Krac.

Just before the interval Parkway’s Elliot dragged his shot wide from 18 yards.

Parkway started brightly in the opening ten minutes of second period; a great pass by Elliot  saw Davey shoot wide from 18 yards.

Lambs’ manager Stuart Henderson made changes in the 55th minute, with Jason Vincent and Steve Rogers replacing Shepherd and Hallett. This had an immediate effect with the Lambs going on the front foot. A fine pass from Hobbs put Vincent in on goal but once again Smith made a terrific save.

Shortly afterwards a penetrating run by Krac put Hobbs in, but again he was denied by the magnificent Smith.

Parkway best chance came in the 67th minute when, following a really fine move, Grant blasted the ball over the bar from six yards. Then Oak made a great save to deny Elliot.

In the 75th minute Hobbs put Vincent in on goal but Smith who was quick off his line to force Vincent to drag his shot wide of the target. Another fine move by the home team saw Vincent in on goal but he blasted the ball over the bar from ten yards.

Both teams continued to attack looking for that all important goal, but as hard as they tried the game ended in a goal less draw.

This was a tremendous game of football provided by two top quality sides, with both goalkeepers in top form, both of whom were their teams men of the match.

It was a good team performance by the Lambs and they thoroughly deserved a share of the points.  The team remain undefeated this season and if they maintain this level of performance it will be a good season.
