Devon and Exeter two

Chagford 2

Lapford 2

WITH a somewhat better squad, Chagford could count themselves unlucky not to take maximum points against the table leaders.

Josh Stanbury met an excellent cross midway through the first half to powerfully head home and open the scoring. For much of that half, the hosts had been relying on stout defending, led by man of the match Craig Vincent, with support coming from all areas.

When Davis doubled the lead after the break, the home support could barely believe the score. Another serious injury, this time to Darren Siwier, started to tell, legs beginning to tire.

Parnell pulled a goal back for Lapford and Chagford were rocking. Phillips’ late equaliser drew a huge cry from the travelling fans, either in celebration or relief.

Chagford Reserves 2

TRAVELLING with the bare 11 players, Chagford Reserves were unable to continue their run to a fourth successive victory.

Their man of the match Sam Westaway marked his return with a goal, young Kes Hirst also netting. When Rob Thorn’s penalty flew high and wide, Chagford had a feeling it was not to be their day. The Reserves felt they deserved a win, but now need to take points from their home game this week.
