TAVISTOCK FC continued their pre-season programme with another fine performance against a energetic Parkway side.

The Lambs took control from the start and both Glynn Hobbs and Sean Krac went close, before the visitors shot wide of the target from 20 yards.

The home team continued to dominate possession, so it was no surprise that they opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Dan Evans provided the perfect cross for Brown to fire home from ten yards. Brown them became provider when his cross found Hobbs who  calmly slotted the ball home from 12 yards.

The home team continued to create chances both Rosenquest and Krac both had efforts that were just wide of the target.

The second half was almost a repeat of the first with the Lambs in complete control and Increased their lead a good move saw a powerful header from Rogers deflected into the net by a defender. Minutes later it was four when Wheeler produced a fine finish following a flowing move.

The visitors could not deal with the quality football the Lambs were producing, this resulted in further goals from Hobbs  Shepherd and Battle, to make it seven.

This was another fine performance by Tavistock and keeps the momentum going in the build up to the season.

Bridgwater Town 2

THE Lambs travelled to Souther League Bridgwater last Friday, and came away with a fully deserved victory over a club two tiers higher in the FA pyramid.

The visitors got off to a terrific start and played some great football, and deservedly took the lead in the seventh minute. Ben Cross played a great pass to release Rosenquest on the right, who provided the perfect cross for Lewis Coombes to fire home.

The home team had a couple of efforts from long range but they were both wide of the target. Bridgwater equalised on 20 minutes when the Lambs failed to clear a corner kick, the ball fell to the home team centre back, who fired home from eight yards.

Ten minutes later the Lambs restored their lead when another fine passing move saw Steve Rogers and Brown exchange passes, the later provided the perfect pass to put Coombes in on goal he beat the advancing keeper with aplomb from 18 yards.

On the half hour Jack Ord was called on to make a great save to deny the home team levelling the scores.

Two minutes later the Lambs increased their lead when following a fine move Lewis Coombes showed great close control and beat three defenders before shooting low into the corner of the net to complete his hat-trick.

Another eye catching move involving Steve Rogers, Sean Krac and Shepherd resulted in a fierce shot from Rosenquest  brilliantly saved by the home keeper.

On the stroke of half time another penetrating move saw Shepherd provide a defence splitting pass resulting in Lewis Coombes and the home keeper go into a 50-50 challenge for the ball. Unfortunately Coombes was badly injured and was stretchered off with a serious leg injury, and taken to hospital.

The home team upped their tempo in the second half and reduced the arrears in the 55th minute when they were awarded a free kick 24 yards from goal; the thunderous kick flew into the top corner of the net.

Within two minutes the Lambs restored their two goal advantage when  a flowing move saw Steve Rogers produce a magnificent volley from outside the box that flashed into the top corner of the net. The game was now flowing from end to end but the Lambs were the team that were more likely to increase their lead. A fine run from Josh Robins saw his cross inches out of the reach of the on rushing Jack Crago.

In the 66th minute Jack Oak made a terrific save to deny the home team from reducing their arrears. The Lambs went close on three other occasion during the last ten minutes with Crago , Krac, and Rogers all going close.

This was a terrific performance by the team against a team in the Southern League. The Lambs played some delightful football. All the squad played their part with some great  individual  performances. All bodes well for the coming season if the team can maintain this level of play.

The game was marred by the injury to Lewis Coombes, as it was later confirmed that he had suffered a double fracture of his leg. Everyone at the club extend their best wishes to Lewis for a speedy recovery.
