TAVISTOCK AFC returned to action after a 10 day lay off due to matches postponed. They started the challenging sequence of 13 matches in 23 days with this long trip to West Cornwall.
Warren Daw and Josh Robbins were missing through suspension with Ben Cross returning from injury to start.
The first half was one of missed chances for the visitors. As early as the first minute Jack Crago was in on goal but he was fouled by Beattie which earned him a yellow card. Nothing came from the rehearsed Tavistock free kick with the home side’s Young putting a free kick into keeper Oak’s hands and then Cattran blasting over from a tight angle.
Beattie’s reckless challenge on the half way line on 30 minutes saw him receive his second card and duly dismissed. Cross’s injury for the visitors recurred and he had to be replaced by Corey Burns.
With the man advantage the Lambs created several chances in the last 15 minutes of the half. Tallon Burns set up Crago, Luke Brown and Teigan Rosenquest combined to set up Burns and a Crago run put in Josh Grant but each time they missed the target from close range.
Tavistock came out for the second half on the front foot again creating chances before they opened the scoring on 62 minutes. Brown was fouled outside of the area and up stepped Dave Hallett to sweetly stroke home into the top corner.
Ten minutes later the lambs went two up. Crago cut in from the wing to send in a shot that keeper Wyatt got his hands to but substitute Leon Prynn pounced and while Wyatt again appeared to keep it out of the net, the assistant ruled that the ball had crossed the line.
Crago had been moved out to the wing and caused the home defence further problems as he rounded his marker to be brought down for a penalty. Up stepped Grant to slot home. Two minutes later the Lambs completed the scoring as Crago and Prynn combined to set up man of the match Reece Shanley to volley home for another three points in their quest to finish as high as possible.
