SHEPTON MALLET 0

TAVISTOCK AFC 4

THIS was a comprehensive performance by Tavistock which gave them a comfortable win over Shepton Mallet.

Dan Evans came back into the starting line but Warren Daw was not available nor Josh Robins through suspension.

The game was fairly even in the opening quarter, with Dave Hallett shooting over the bar from 20 yards in the fourth minute. Shepton Mallet went close five minutes later shooting wide of the target.

In the 15th minute the Lambs had a corner kick taken by Hallett, which caused a scare as efforts from Grant and Annear were blocked before the ball scrambled away to safety.

The home then forced Ben Elphick in the visitors’ goal to make fine save to turning a fierce shot away for a corner kick, which was cleared.

The Lambs settled into their effective pass and move game and opened the scoring in the 34th minute, when a fine move saw Hallett square the ball for Josh Grant to drill the ball low into the far corner of the net from 20 yards, giving Hill in the home goal no chance of saving.

Three minutes later Hill made two great saves to deny Grant and Annear from scoring.

Good work by Alex Cairo for Tavistock provided a fine pass to Liam Prynn who found Jack Crago to shoot the ball home, giving the Lambs a two goal lead at the interval.

There was a scare for the visitors in the early minutes of the second half when Elphick took a heavy knock when going to collect a corner kick but after treatment he was able to resume his keeping duties.

On the hour the Lambs produced another great move starting with Evans providing a terrific ball to Crago on the left flank; his pass provided the opportunity for Josh Grant to flash the ball home.

Tavistock manager Stuart Henderson then made a substitution when the impressive Cairo was replaced by Tom Annear at full back.

The Lambs continued to dominate the game with their slick quick passing football, and it came as no surprise when they made the game safe in the 72nd minute with a flowing move from back to front which opened up the home defence for Crago to fire the ball home.

The home team never gave up with Peck forcing Elphick to make a fine save and then Tucker-Dixon firing wide of the target when well placed.

The Lambs saw the rest of the game out to record a comfortable victory their performance deserved.

This was a great team performance from Tavistock. Manager Stuart Henderson named Josh Grant as the man of the match.
