LAST Monday both team can take great credit in playing some fine football, played in very difficult conditions with a gale force wind blowing up the Tavy valley.
The game got off to a fast start with both teams probing for an opening. It was Bodmin who broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, when they won a corner kick, Rundle header was partially cleared but Evans was the first to react and had the easiest of tasks to slot the ball home from two yards.
The Lambs levelled the scores in the 31st minute when a delightful move saw the ball find Jack Crago on the left - he found Josh Grant, who slipped the ball to Tallin Burns to fire the ball low into the corner of the net from 18 yards.
Play continued to flow from end too end, with the home team almost taking the lead just before the interval when Luke Brown shot inches wide of the target.
The Lambs stepped up the tempo in the second half and created three really good scoring opportunities. Tallin Burns saw his shot well saved by Harvey and minutes later Luke Brown dragged his shot wide of the target before Teigan Rosenquest shot flash past the far post.
Bodmin continued to look dangerous on the break with Crater and Brokenshire always looked a thread, on the counter attack, but the home defence were in fine form with Dan Evans and captain Lewis Daw outstanding. Josh Oak in the home goal,also had a fine game.
The Lambs persistence paid off in the end when another fine attack resulted in Jack Crago brought down in the penalty area. Crago stepped up to fire the spot kick home to the lead. The home team were reduced to ten men in the 86th minute when Luke Brown was sent off after a robust challenge, the referee adjudging that it was dangerous play.
Bodmin pushed forward to try and get an equaliser but goal keeper Oak and the home defence held firm to take the three points.

TAVISTOCK manager Stuart Henderson made several changes to the starting line up with eight games to be played in the next two weeks.
The Lambs were finding it difficult to find any real rhythm in their game, and this resulted in what was a scrappy first half. They still managed to create a couple of good chances with Kelvin Fyneboy hitting the bar in the 13th minute. Three minutes later Jack Tribble saw his fine header come back off the bar.
Josh Oak in the home goal made a really good save to deny Lloyd from giving the visitors the lead.
Henderson made a couple of changes at half time bringing on Dave Hallett and Josh Grant for Tribble and Fyneboy. The game changed with the Lambs now dominating possession and Blatchford in the visitors’ goal made three great saves to deny the home team taking the lead. He made a full length save to turn Josh Grants effort away for a corner kick. Minutes later he bravely dived to take the ball off Jack Crago as he was in on goal. The third was another magnificent save to deny Grant from scoring.
The Lambs finally broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when another great move opened up the visitors’ defence, with Crago providing the perfect ball for Grant to fire home.
Seven minutes later the home team doubled their lead when Crago was brought down in the penalty area, Grant flashed the spot kick into the net.
Sticker never gave up and tried their hardest to get a foothold in the game, and they got a lift in the 89th minute when a Lambs defender fouled Duff in the penalty area. Boyer made scored from the spot kick.
The Lambs comfortably saw out the remainder of the game to record a hard earned victory.
Callington Town 2

THE Lambs got off to the perfect start last Thursday when they opened the scoring in the second minute. A good move saw Tyler Elliot provide the defence splitting pass for Josh Grant to fire home. Although the Lambs continued to have the lion share of possession but it was a spirited performance by Callington. The Lambs had Dan Evans go off with injured and play remained fairly even for the remainder of the first half.
Callington made a bright star to the second but it was not long before the Lambs started to dominate the game. A fine move in the 55th minute when a fine move saw Liam Prynn fire home to double the lead.Another fine passing move saw the home defence opened up, but a terrific goal line clearance by the full back denied Grant from scoring. Minutes later the visitors made it three when another fine move saw Prynn volley home from 18 yards.
In the 70th minute another superb passing move between Cairo and Elliot open up the home defences Prynn calmly placed the ball pass the advancing goal keeper to complete his hat-trick.
In the last ten minutes Tavistock began to tire and the home side opened their account in the 78th minute when a shot was deflected and looped over Josh Oak into the net. Five minutes later the home team were awarded a penalty when a defender handled the ball in the area. The spot kick saw Callington reduce the arrears but Lambs saw out the game to record the win over a competitive Callington team.
Launceston FC 1 Tavistock AFC 3
THE Lambs started brightly on Saturday in the opening minutes with Prynn and Elliot combining well but the latter shot over the bar from 18 yards.
Launceston took the lead in the 12th minute when a fine move saw the ball find Chris Head to slot home from 10 yards. Three minutes later Josh Oak made a fine save to deny the home team from doubling their lead.
Both teams were playing some fine football as the Lambs pushed for an equaliser. On the half hour from a free kick a header from Dan Evans back across the box saw Josh Grant rise but his header went inches wide of the target.
Five minutes before the interval Tavistock deservedly levelled the score. From a corner kick the ball was not cleared by the home defence and Dan Evans was the first to react and slot the ball hame from eight yards.
On the hour Fyneboy and Burns replaced Brown and Prynn. Kelvin Fyneboy was soon in the action when he had a shot well saved by Colwell. He then made another fine save to turn a shot from Crago away for a corner kick. A great delivery by Dave Hallett resulted in Warren Daw’s header rebound back of the post, and Dan Evans was on hand to fire the ball home.
Launceston tried to get back in the game but it was Colwell in the home goal that was the busier of the two keepers making some fine saves.
In the 75th minute a fine move involving four player saw the ball find Tallin Burns who rifled the ball home from 18 yards to increase the lead. Tavistock were now in control and but for Colwell they would have added to their goal tally. Jack Crago, Josh Robins and Fyneboy all had good efforts saved, before Tallin Burns saw his fine effort cannon back off a post and a Tyler Elliot shot was blocked on the line.
The team can be proud having come through four games in a week with maximum points to keep up their challenge for runners up in the league.
