Five Tavistock Athletic club athletes took place in the Regional Schools Championships last month in Exeter.

Patrick Channings, Dean Smith and Tess Masselink, who attend Callington Community College qualified through the Cornwall Schools Championships and Lily Mills and Emily Attfield, who attend Devonport High school for girls, qualified through the Devon schools championships

The competition is a significant step up and this was proven in the level of competition

Dean Smith ran 2 minutes 07 seconds in the U17s 800 metres

Lily Mills competed in Javelin for U15 girls and came fifth with a PB of 27.06

Emily Attfield competed in the 1500 metres, achieving a PB of 5 mins 03 secs, with Tess Masselink finishing one place behind also gaining a PB with a time of 5 mins 05.32 secs

Patrick Channings who has had an excellent season to date with a string of personal bests, came second in the 400 metres for U15's in 52.75 secs and gained entry to the national schools championships for the second successive year.
