ONCE again manager Ian Southcott was forced to make changes to his line up with, Jammie Ahern, Aaron Northmore not available and Joe Smith missing through a knee injury.

The Lambs turned in a fine performance and fully deserved to progress to the next round of the F A Vase.

The game started at a fast pace with both sides probing for an early opening, it was the visitors that almost opened their account in the seventh minute when a fine move down the left flank, saw the ball find Jarryd Kelly on the edge of the penalty area, his shot flashed just over the cross bar. Back came the hosts and after a raid down the right, a cross found their centre forward, who headed over from ten yards out.

Carlton Farnham was creating the home defence real problems down the left flank, in the 25th minute he beat three defenders before squaring the ball to Ian Rooke, but his shot was deflected for a corner kick.

On the half hour Dean Smith in the Lambs goal was called upon to make a smart save to deny Cullompton from taking the lead. Five minutes later another fine run by Carlton Farnham resulted in another corner kick for the Lambs, his corner kick found Ian Rooke unmarked in the penalty area and his powerful header from eight yards nestled into the corner of the net to give the Lambs a deserved lead.

The visitors were now producing some fine attacking football and almost increased their lead in the 40th minute, with Dave Hallett combining well with Rooke, but Johnny Wyatt's shot was just wide of the target. Two minutes later Carlton Farnham was denied when the home keeper pulled off a great save to deny him from increasing the Lambs' lead. The visitors had a scare just seconds before the interval when Cullompton's left winger cut inside and fired a shot from the angle of the penalty area which just cleared the cross bar with Dean Smith watching anxiously.

The visitors increased the tempo in the second half and really took control of the game,. In the 50th minute a quick free kick taken by Hallett, found Rooke unmarked, his shot went just over the bar from eighteen yards. Two minute later Rooke was through on goal, but as he stretched to beat the keeper to the ball, he pulled a hamstring and could take no further part in the game

The Lambs were now really playing well and their passing game was giving them control of the game through great possession of the ball, forcing the home team to rely on the occasional counter attack.

On 59 minutes Johnny Wyatt went close after another fine run from Carlton Farnham.

In the 63rd minute the Lambs doubled their lead when a pass from Carlton Farnham found the impressive Jarryd Kelly in the penalty he jinked his way past two defenders, before squaring the ball across the six yard box to give Ryan Honey a tap in from three yards.

The home team tried to respond but the Lambs defence were in fine form, and Dean Smith was only called upon to deal with the occasional long range efforts.

The visitors continued to press forward and should have increased their lead in the 75th minute when Carlton Farnham produced a jinking run down the left, he decided to shoot for a very acute angle, when he should have crossed the ball to Honey who was unmarked in the six yard area. Paul Quinn then saw his free kick whistle past the home goal, before Carlton Farnham shot wide following some fine work by Ryan Honey.

The home team were not finished yet, and the Lambs were given a wake up call in the 86th minute, when they hit the wood work.

There were a number of fine performances with Dan Follett performing excellently at the heart of the Lambs defence, along with Moorhead, Robbins, and Quinn.

With Dave Hallett back to his best form, along with the impressive Jarryd Kelly, and Johnny Wyatt, the teams passing game flowed from the back to the front.

Carlton Farnham was a threat to the home defence throughout the game with his penetrating runs down the flanks.
