TROUT anglers David Best and Rod Dibble, who have fished for Roadford's Brown Trout since the days when it first opened its doors as a fishery, enjoyed their best -ever day's boat fishing at Roadford earlier this month.
David's first fish, off the boils, was seven pounds plus.
Taken on a black leech, it was returned in good fettle.
It was the first of two David and Rod had out in the stream from the boils, after that all other fish were taken from the margins. Feeding high in the very edge on snails, shrimps and worm these fish were of the highest quality, fin perfect and full of energy.
All round the lake the pair took fish between two and three pounds — in the end they took away three fish each and returned a good dozen or so.
South West Lakes Trust will be hosting a fly fishing event at Roadford 'Lakeside' with the West Country Rivers Trust on August 15 from 4pm to 7.30pm.
Everyone, from novices to experts, are welcome.
