Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.

THIS was the last weekend of my ideal routine — consisting of a running race, watching rugby and then sailing.

Now the clocks have changed the temperature has taken a dramatic drop and the autumn sailing series are over, does this mean winter has arrived? The next series aptly named 'frostbite' sounds a little too hardcore for me, especially as this weekend I was still cold when wearing tights, thermal leggings, trousers and sailing dungarees; not sure I would be able to move if I wore any more clothes!

Admittedly the only thing missing from my perfect weekend was a slightly different result in the rugby. I was in a mildly awkward situation when watching my favourite two teams Exeter Chiefs and Bath play each other on Saturday. Being a Devon girl my allegiance obviously lies with the former however I was incredibly honoured to be a guest of the president of Bath rugby. He warned me to dress up warm so I cheekily suggested my Exeter scarf should do the job, he replied, 'As long as it is black, white and blue.' Being a guest I politely obeyed, but little did he realise that the Exeter supporter scarves are the same as Bath's except for a lighter shade of blue.

On a serious note whatever the colour of my scarf or the team I support I would have been welcome and that is what I love about rugby, I know a certain other team sport where you would not be comfortable wearing the opposition's scarf when sat amongst their season ticket holders.
