Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.

ANOTHER week, another country! I am half way through two weeks in one place, quite a novelty at the moment.

I'm with the British squad up in the French Pyrenees for an altitude training camp before heading to the Europeans next week. Other than enjoying being able to unpack with out the worry of travelling we have the bonus of sunshine plus the new addition of English TV channels (quite important with all the sport at this time of year).

With any form of training I strongly agree with the work hard play hard ethic - a prime example of this was our day off on Sunday. We stuck with tradition and the whole squad headed to the lake with the hope it would be warm enough — entertainment options are limited out here. After a few hours relaxing I felt it was time to build on my windsurfing skills; this has become an annual event but if you saw me in action you would realise that equates to a few hours in total! This time I had a breakthrough and just about mastered turning (without jumping in and hauling the board around!), however I was still struggling to head upwind. This resulted in the coach hiring a kayak to rescue me from half way across the lake; apparently the others wanted to go home.

It is now back to the hard training, but I am suffering slightly from my windsurfing exploits with several bruises and sore muscles.

Think I might have taken active recovery a little far.
