AFTER a thrilling end to the season Tavistock Sports Centre men's seven a side league is looking for new members.

The Leaping Salmon, Horrabridge, were crowned league champions, after an exciting three-way fight with rivals Grub Up and The Lona, and won the first ever cup competition beating Crystal City in the final.

The Leaping Salmon's Josh Robins also scooped The Golden Boot award after netting 40 goals.

Building on a successful season, the league, which is run by Tavistock Sports Centre with support from West Devon Borough Council, is now on the hunt for new teams.

Neil Jordain, the council's football development officer, said: 'It has been a good year for the league with the introduction of a cup competition for the first time and several new teams joining including two from the Sixth Form at Tavistock College.  This season saw 13 teams take part but we would like to give more teams the chance to get involved.  As this season has proved, seven a side football can be exciting. It's also great fun and a way to stay fit!'

The deadline for entries for the new season is September 9 with the league starting on September 15. To enter a team or find out more email [email protected]">[email protected]
