MEMBERS of Tavistock Athletic Club competed in two 10k races last weekend.

Emer Scanlon was the sole TAC entry at Trelissick near Truro in the race organised by the National Trust in the estate grounds. This was Emer's first 10k race of the year, and she ran well in tough weather conditions to finish third in her F45 age category in 54 minutes 55 seconds.

The following day, nine club members competed at Torbay running from the start in the town along to Paignton and back to the finish at Corbyn Head.

First man home was Graham De Val running strongly to gain a season's best time (SB) and a bronze award for his time of 47.24. Paul Marshall (48.00) was less than a minute behind, earning silver with Andy Houghton (48.27) hot on his heels finishing third in his age category and gaining a diamond award for his time/age. John Windermer also ran a SB, finishing in 57.51 and earning bronze.

Among the club females, Jackie Ralph and Samantha Marshall were running this distance for the first time this year, Jackie finishing in 63.43 with a bronze award while Samantha recorded 58.38. Lesley Cowie was seconds behind her, finishing comfortably under the hour in 58.49.

Sheila Houghton (54.51) ran an SB coming fourth in her age category with a gold award, and Caron De Val continued her fine form to also record a SB.in 56.18.
