FOLLOWING her recent BJA National success winning silver in the Midlands Championships and bronze in the North West, Ella Percival has become the 2012 AJA Junior National Champion (U16yrs).

Aged just 14 Ella fought in the under 55kg weight group at the Amateur Judo Association Championships in Erdington, West Midlands, winning her first contest by Wazari and the rest by Ippon!

Aidan Bostock, both from Okehampton Judo Club, was on top form and fought in two groups — the open weight espoirs (16 and 17 year olds) and the mens U73kg weight group. Aidan, 16, looked unbeatable on the day winning all eight fights by Ippon making him a double AJA national champion!

He was later awarded his black belt as a result of his outstanding per-formance at the nationals.

The pair now form part of the AJA National Squad and will represent them internationally in Mierlo, Holland this month.

Both Ella and Aidan are trained by Roger Downs, sixth dan and BJA performance coach of the year, at Tamar Judo Centre in Saltash.
