AS the temperatures soared in recent weeks Tavistock Running Project athletes have continued to blaze a trail, supporting local races as we move into the summer months.

In the latest British Milers Club series at Exeter Arena, juniors Ed and Ollie Smart ran 2 minutes 11 seconds and 4 mins 12 secs respectively over 800 and 1,500 metres in competitive races.

Ollie used the race as preparation in his quest for England Schools honours in Birmingham on July 13/14.

TRP had further success with Crispin Chambers victorious at the Tamar Trails Park Run on June 30.

New TRP recruit Adam Holland continued to race across the spectrum of distances from the mile to ultra-marathon with his current exploit a 10 marathon in 10 day challenge.

The club also celebrated a triumphant performance at the

Erme Valley Relays last Friday. Led off by a resurgent Jim Cole and supported by Jordan Andrews, Ollie Smart and Ben Neale, the TRP team never relinquished their early lead storming to a great victory. The club also saw its B team which included Henry Ware, Dan Pearce and Rachael Malthouse run strongly for 16th place overall.

Coach Dave Chanter said the club coach will be rooting for Sam Lake as she represents GB in the Equation in Denmark.
