TAVISTOCK Run Project took to the Run Exe 5km series in Exeter earlier this month. Ben Neale, Sam Lake and Emma Louise Dooney, battled the wind and rain for the second race in the Exe 5k series.
Ben continued his race success with yet another first place position after his previous win last month and another personal best in a superb time of 15 minutes 54 seconds. Sam Lake also had a good run finishing fifth female and first in her age category in a time personal Best time of 19.36. Emma ran a strong and consistent race finishing in a respectable time of 24.20.
Tavistock athlete Adam Holland finished in second place in an excellent time of 15.57.
Following on from this success the club held their annual Peter Tavy Trailblazer on May 6. The beautiful sunshine made this tough, five-mile, hilly off road race all the more stunning with spectacular views across the tors of Dartmoor.
TRP had an excellent turnout with superb results including taking the three male top spots. TRP results were as follows: Oliver Smart (U17) first, in a time of 35.30, Edward Smart (U17) second, in a time of 38.13 and Crispin Chambers (veteran 50) third, in a time of 40.03, also racing for TRP was Jon Eatly in time of 1.03.51.
Also racing over the weekend were James Armstrong and Jodi Fisk, who took part the Plym Valley Trail Half Marathon; both ran really well with James finishing second overall in a time of 1.37:.0 and Jodi took the first female spot in a time of 1.44.20.
At the Saltash half marathon, racing for TRP were Chris Rimmer and Chris Malthouse, again the heat made the distance a tough, hilly run however both Chris’ put in a super effort. With a Chris Rimmer finishing second overall in a super time of 1.18.52 and Chris Malthouse crossed the finish in 2.02.06.
Ruth MacIntyre took part in the OMM lite navigation race in the Forest of Dean – anrace where each team gathers points over a set amount of time. Ruth’s team took part over two days - five hours for the first day and four for the second. Ruth’s team did really well and won first female team.
Ben Neale showed he is still on top form after another dominating win at the Ivybridge 10k this week. He led out the race from the start and had a convincing win in time of 33 minutes and 20 seconds, a massive two minute personal best for Ben.
Also running and representing TRP was Rachael Malthouse who also did a fantastic time with a great PB, in a time of 40 minutes and 44 seconds, she was fourth lady overall, an excellent result; likewise Rachel‘s husband was also running the 10k in a great time of 50 minutes and 37 seconds.
On Sunday it was the turn of Sam Lake, Oliver Smart and Edward Smart to represent TRP At the Devon track Championships first up to race with Oliver Smart in the 3 km race. Oliver run extremely good race tactically finishing as 3,000m Devon champion in a time of 9 mins 05 secs, he also achieved an 11 second Devon County record. Next up to race was Sam Lake in the senior women’s category of the 5,000 m, considering Sam had had a nasty fall in training the previous day and raced at London Marathon just three weeks ago, she still ran a reasonably strong time and won another gold for TRP to claim victory as Devon champion for the 5,000 m.
Edward Smart, older brother of Oliver who took to the 1,500 m in the 17 and under age group. Edward ran a strong race finishing a close fourth overall, in a cracking time of 4.38.
