DESPITE the miserable weather it did not deter a large field from contesting a four ball better ball Stableford competition at Okehampton Golf Club.

The winners of division one with 40 points were Fred Cooke and Graham Pengelly after countback from, in second, Colin Cornwall and Chris Walsh. Third position went to Nicholas Heath and Rod Wright with 39pts. Division two was won by Tom Wilson and Ashley Arscott with 42pts. Julian Bennet and Rob Simpson were second with 38pts on the back nine from, in third Matthew Flavin and Will Potts.

Okehampton ladies played 'three clubs and a putter' competition this week. Mary Keir won with 34pts, Lin Atkinson was second with 31pts, Jane Warren was third with 30 pts (on countback) and Sylvie Gowers was fourth with 30pts. Doris Jewell played in the County Bronze Meeting at Libbaton and had a superb result by winning the cup in the 26-36 handicap category.
