BUCKLAND Monachorum 2nd XI went toe-to-toe with Crofty Holman for the County Trophy, having won the Division Seven East title the weekend prior.
At the neutral St Gluvias CC ground, Dan Elkington chose for Buckland to field first.
After a steady start, Crofty Holman found themselves in a reasonably good position of 80-3, but a major collapse saw them lose their last seven wickets for only 10 runs- all out at 90, in 30.5 overs.
Sam Houldsworth (3-31, 10 overs), Darren Bartrop (3-13, nine) and Steve Mannell (4-19, 5.5) were the three wicket-takers.
In response, Buckland found themselves in a disastrous position at 22-4, but a 65-run partnership between Gary Elkington (45n.o.) and Chris Prettejohn (22) steadied any possible nerves.
Alongside Elkington, Darren Bartrop saw them over the line to win by five wickets, with 14.1 overs to spare.
Despite being only their second season in this league, Buckland 2nd XI’s have a league and cup double to celebrate.
