TAVISTOCK Cricket Club president Stuart Munday was bowled over after Devon County Council stumped up a grant towards the much needed refurbishment of its pavilion.

Stuart told the Times: 'Tavistock Cricket Club thank Devon County Council for their partnership support with a grant cheque of £2,000 towards the refurbishment of changing rooms and showers. The club is looking to refurbish and update many areas of the pavillion, which in some parts, is more than 160 years-old.'

Stuart appealed to local people to help get the ball rolling. He said:?'Any help from businesses or tradesmen in the town would be greatly appreciated as it is hoped that much of the work will be completed in time for the start of the season in May'.

'The cricket club is a real community club giving a great facility on and off the pitch for people of all ages, and especially our younger members.

'Any help, financially, or if, for example a qualified electrician or a decorator can give their time, it would be most appreciated.'
