CONSERVATIVE C rose to seventh in the table, their highest ever spot in the Tavistock Snooker League with a superb 3-2 win over Golf B.

First blood though went to Golf B with Appleton getting the edge on Con C’s Davey in a close encounter. It was not long before Davies pulled Con C level in an anything but close contest as she found an on-form Davies too hot to handle.

Goble put Golf B in front again as he did what was required to oust Con C skipper Jago in another close affair.

A nervy Vizor held it together, as he played better as the game progressed to pull Con C level again with a win over Golf B’s Goble.

The toast of Conservative C was new player Cleave, who secured the deciding frame for his team in a one sided match with Golf B’s Briggadike.

Another solid victory for West Devon A cements their top of the table position as they made short work of West Devon D.

Rich for the A team with a 36 break swept aside Decieco, with team mate Lawrence producing an eye catching win over the dangerous Paul Shrimpton to take West Devon A team 2-0 up. The margin was soon three with some inspired snooker from the grossly under rated Taylor who removed the equally dangerous D team skipper Murton. The deficit was reduced thanks to an heroic showing from West Devon D team’s Ward as he tamed Heathman.

Morris soon had West Devon A team back on course though with a one sided win over Pinkney, as he continued his bright unbeaten start to the season and stretched his team’s winning margin to 4-1.

Tavy A gave Conservative B a bit of a lesson in making frames count as they punished them 4-1.

Martin McKechnie for Con B bucked the trend though proving to be their sole ‘bread winner’ with a very well worked win over old ‘team mate’ Monk.

That was the end of the smiles for Conservative B, even though Ewings made normally ‘free scoring’ Brad Anderson fight all the way in a low scoring scrappy affair, before eventually falling. After a tentative start, Hicks for Tavy A, eventually got into gear to push aside Con B’s Craze to take his side one in front.

Another game of ‘what could have been’ for Con B was Lillicrap, who took the Tavy A skipper Evans to the wire, before Evans finished off the colours in a flurry to stamp his authority.

Dolan duly produced the fourth point for Tavy A controlling his frame against Neale, showing yet again how to ‘see a frame out’.
