CONSERVATIVE C picked up their first precious win of the season in the Tavistock Snooker League against fellow strugglers Golf A on Thursday.

Things though did not look too rosy for Con C after two frames as they went two-nil down.

Golf A’s bright start was courtesy in part to Turnbull with his first outing in league snooker for several years, displaying some intermittent flashes of his former flare as he comprehensively outgunned Con’s Weldon.

The other winning frame for Golf A came from yet another dominant display from Matt Whitley whose 27 break was more than enough to outclass the struggling Con C skipper Jago, and contribute yet another notch to Jago’s protracted losing streak.

The start of the Con C’s rear guard action was led by Dodd, who despite a shaky start, was able to muster enough to overcome Golf A’s skipper Pope.

Rob Neale continued the Con C’s comeback with a hard fought win over Wylie, who to his credit, stuck in to the bitter end.

The win for the Con C’s came when Davey, timed his first ever league win to perfection, to edge out Golf’s Congo in yet another game that could have gone either way.

After last weeks ‘giant killing’ exploits from West Devon B, it was down to earth with a bump against Conservative Z this week. Jankowski, for Con Z, gave his team a flying start against his old adversary Gilchrist with a majestic display of controlled potting, Gilchrist, despite his late rally, failed to contain his opponent.

Symons for Con Z made heavy weather of dispatching Toland to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Frame of the night was the two ‘big guns’ for their respective teams, currently unbeaten Hoar for the West Devon B against Mayors for Con Z. They engaged in an epic struggle and great respect was shown by both contestants, which led to a thrilling and somewhat lengthy frame, culminating in a black ball game in favour of Mayors.

McKechnie for the Con Z found himself chasing the game against Hart from the off and a much needed win for the West Devon resulted.

In the final frame Horrel for West Devon B was pitted against Fitzsimmons. Fortune smiled on West Devon B as Fitzsimmons went ‘in off’ the final black ball handing the frame to Horrel by default.
