WITH only one win in four games this season in the Tavistock Snooker League, Conservative Z have had an uncomfortable start.
However in this game against West Devon D they set out to address their shortcomings. Hall, in his first game of the season for Con Z got his team on the front foot with a comfortable win over Hooper. Shrimpton of West Devon D drew the short straw against Fitzsimmons who was in rampant mood, with a veritable feast of potting throughout the frame. McKechnie for Con Z, however, had a tougher game on his hands against Murton. A real slogging match ensued, neither player wishing to concede the slightest advantage to his opponent, but after a marathon of epic proportions, McKechnie just edged it in a black ball finish.
Another black ball struggle between May for West Devon D and Jankowski, saw Jankowski handed the game when May, after a sterling performance throughout, completely missed an ‘over the pocket’ black leaving his opponent with the game by default. Decieco of West Devon D saved his team from a whitewash with yet another black ball game, against Mayors, who looked to have the frame sown up. However, a 24 break from Decieco brought him right back into contention, the frame finishing at 49-43 in Decieco’s favour.
West Devon C made the most of Conservative B’s stuttering start to the season taking three frames off them. Despite this Con B went top of the table due to the superior amount of games they have played.
Evans put the Con Bone up as he effortlessly breezed past Smith. Elliott pulled it back for West Devon as he took out Dolan in an equally one sided encounter.
Lillicrap found his scoring touch again with a good win over West Devon C’s skipper Shrimpton (senior) to put the Con B in front again.
Back came West Devon C with Hodge taking control of his frame over the dangerous Moloney, making it all square again.
