IT was cat and mouse all the way in the Tavistock Snooker League as Conservervative Z lost out to West Devon A 2-3.
The first scalp went to the Con Z's Steve Hall against a tenacious but eventually overwhelmed Emptage before Con Z's John Dodd overwhelmed an off colour Taylor to make it 2-0 to Cons Z, with both Hall and Dodd scoring 66. In a captivating display by Keith Morris for WDA against an in form Fitzsimmons the former potted the vital pink that clinched the game, finishing on a score of 66!
West Devon A team captain Heathman drew the scores level when he beat Jock Jankowski. Heathman took this vital frame for WD to draw his team level.
Symons for the Con Z lost out to WDA Rich to take the frame and the match.
Conservative A visiting lowly West Devon C eventually ran out 4-1 winners but could just have easily lost 3- 2 with several close frames. Con A's Cook beat Williams in a scrappy frame to put Con A's one up.
Pinkney pulled one back for the WD with some good potting backed up with solid safety as he capitalised on an off colour Evans. Hodge put up stout resistance to Carruthers before falling to a well made 30 break from Carruthers which sealed the frame. Lacey was given a early potting lesson from WD's Mr Elliott but stayed just in front before potting the pink, to snatch the frame.
For most of the final frame WD's Grigg opened up a 30 plus lead over Con A's Bell with only one red left. Pure tenacity and some 'never say die' attitude, saw Bell pot all the colours to level the game and then proceeded to pot the re-spotted black to win it.
