TAVISTOCK Athletic Club's monthly 5k run is coming up again this Saturday.

More than 100 people from far and wide have participated over the previous 10 runs. The friendly and scenic event starts and finishes on the track at Tavistock College taking runners into the Meadows and along both the canal and river banks.

It is open to anyone from 11 years old although younger children can participate if they are accompanied by a responsible adult. All abilities are catered for and this is a great event for beginners or those who have got the running bug and are looking to take part in something a little more organised!

Club spokesman Allan Herdman said: 'We have had great feedback about the Skool Run and we are now looking to grow the event by welcoming new people and those looking to develop their running.' The 5k course has now been officially measured and there are some new features to the results service, including age grade performances whereby runners can compare their times against recognised standards.

'This sort of event is a great way to monitor your progress as well as being a fine way to start your weekend!' he added.

The run is held on the third Saturday of each month starting at 9.15am.
