AN excellent start by Okehampton firsts took the Taunton Vale defence by surprise. Pacy passing in midfield by Jess Medland and Sophie Whiteley created a strong opening attack.

Taunton Vale recovered though, and pushed forward to test Oke defenders Nicky Pedrick, Laura Parsons and Abi Colton.

Taunton Vale earned themselves a short corner and slipped a goal passed Oke’s goalie Alice Wiseman. The Columbines fought back with several attacks on goal but to no avail. However, they kept pushing and with a brilliant run from Emily Rowlands down the wing, she found Hannah Whiteley, who slipped the ball past the Taunton Vale goalie from the penalty spot.

The second half started well with Okehampton having great runs down the wing by Kim Davey and Ellie Shayler, who put in some great crosses in but the Taunton defence kept them out. However, Taunton Vale put the pressure on again and scored their second goal.

Oke not giving up worked hard with some great passing out to the wings from the midfielders and down the wings, attacking Taunton Vale’s defence but were still unable to find the back of the goal.

With a final push, the last goal came from Taunton Vale, to end the game 3-1. Okehampton had a brilliant game which unfortunately was not reflected in the score.
