NINETEEN swimmers from the Kelly College swim squad competed at the Millfield Last Chance meet held in Somerset earlier this month.

There were some great results for the squad who are now back in training for the regional championships coming up in June.

At the meet they won 23 gold medals, nine silver, 17 bronze, recorded two national qualifying times, five Kelly College records and 41 personal best times.

Christy Gold (14) was in fine form, achieving her first ever national qualifying time in the 100m breaststroke, while Cara Layden (13) increased her list of national qualifying times by adding the 400m freestyle to those she already had in the 100m and 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Nathan Linden broke the boys 13 year age group 200m fly record which had stood for 10 years with a time of 2 minutes 30.88 seconds and Ben Staig improved his own 100m backstroke record (1.05.86) and also broke the 200m backstroke record (2.21.87) for 13 year old boys. Aimee Davies (13) beat her own record in the 50m back with 33.44 and Robyn Edwards took the 200m backstroke record for 14 year old girls with a time of 2 minutes 25.31 seconds.
