THE Tavistock College physical education department have, this half term, been working with Tavyside Badminton to deliver a wide ranging badminton course to the Year 10 GLAM group of young ladies.

The first two weeks were spent indoors at the college building up the confidence of the young ladies by playing and taking part in challenges using hands, rackets, balloons and shuttles. The second two weeks were spent at Meadowlands Leisure Centre playing ’Aqua-Badminton’ in the pool and the final two weeks will be spent back at the college discovering further aspects of badminton play - maybe outdoors if the weather is kind to us.

Aqua-Badminton has been developed by the coaching team at Tavyside Badminton in association with Meadowlands Leisure Centre. Participants who have tried it say that it is harder to play in water as you cannot move around quickly and the rackets do not work under water!!

Both Tavistock College and Tavyside Badminton would like to thank the staff at Meadowlands for their assistance and allowing us to use the facilities.
