IT was a truely amazing day for Tavistock College at Bicton Arena on September 11 when the school’s two equestrian teams qualified for the National Schools Championships to be held in October at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire.

The outstanding achievement was to win first place in the 95cm showjumping competition against 18 teams from schools across the Westcountry.   Individually there were 100 riders in the class.

The team took second place out of 89 entries in the 75cm and third out of a massive 120 entries in the 85cm.

Team members were Frankie McKechnie, Heidi Littlejohns, Natalie Rowe, Jade Coupland and Becky McArthur.  

‘All five riders and their ponies were outstanding,’ said team manager Karla McKechnie.   ‘We are proud to have won through to represent Tavistock College at the Championships.’
