WEST Devon C pushed Tavistock Snooker league leaders Conservative A to the limit as they narrowly went down 2-3 on Thursday.
Shrimpton inflicted the first defeat of the season on Con A's Bell while Con A's just survived a tough game against West Devon C's Toland. Likewise Longden eventually overcame WD's Williams in a tough game, with neither playing near their potential.
The win for the Conservative A's came via their reliable captain Carruthers with a comfortable win over Decieco who spurned early chances.
The final frame went the way of West Devon C with Hooper taking more of his chances than Folley, including the deciding black ball to reduce his teams losing margin to only one frame.
West Devon B reversed some recent bad results with a close one over Conservative C. Smith got them going with a win over Hoare while Bath proved he is one of the most improved players this season with a convincing win over Con C's Craze.
Roger Rich settled the game for West Devon coming from behind and potting some 'key' balls to oust Con's Wilkinson. Brother John Rich however took a bit of a pounding as Con C's Bassett romped home to win comfortably. Neale reduced the deficit to just one frame for the Conservative C's as he narrowly overcame WD's Paddy Gilchrist in a black ball finish.
