HIGH flying Conservative B were made to sweat by West Devon C in their Tavistock Snooker League.

West Devon took an early two frame lead courtesy of a couple of good performances from Pinkney and Hodge. Pinkney was all over Con's Monk while Hodge ground out a win over Con B's Lillicrap in a scrappy frame.

The Con B recovery started with Evans, riding out the storm of some good mid frame potting from Williams, as the former finished the stronger to pull one back. McKechnie continued the Con B recovery in a close game with Elliott. Dolan was the 'strong man in a storm' in a level headed performance to overcome Shrimpton. Final score West Devon C 2 Conservative B 3.

After building a commanding lead, Conservative Z's Fitzsimmons was taken to the wire by West Devon D's captain Mike Hooper. Hooper, in a tenacious display, forced Fitz to a black ball game before Fitzsimmons 'closed the door' on him.

A currently off form Symons of the Z team racked up a creditable 50 against Shrimpton.

With his team two nil up, next to the table was Con's captain, Brian Palmer took on Jack May. Palmer had, on several occasions, the chance to put the game to bed but May took advantage of Palmer's shortcomings and took it to a re-spotted black and took the frame. Shoulders for the WD gave a display of immaculate potting in the early stages, but Jankowski refusing to be intimidated and took the frame. Dodd, for the Con Zs, had a chance to make it 4-1 against Decieco, but spurned the offer in a below par performance against superior opposition. Despite losing the match, a good result and performance from the West Devon team.
