THE Tavistock Squash and Racketball Club’s annual Christmas competition took place on December 18.
The event involves teams of both squash and racketball players, all battling out for points for their team.
The games are all played with the faster blue balls to add a bit of interest and even things out a little.
This year the club had a great turnout with four teams of six players and the team who came out top were Kate Wright, Nigel Eadie, David Rowe, Paul Turner, Colin Grice and Corrie Grice.
With the now usual ‘jokers’ to mix things up, the evening proved great fun with lots of support and banter from the watching players. With the addition of mince pies and mulled wine and it was another very enjoyable evening at the club.
Simon Powell, on behalf of the club, said: ‘There was lots of good action but two teams edged in front and it came down to the last couple of games before we knew who was going to win.
‘The winning team all won a box of chocolates for their efforts. The winner of the fizz was Will Westlake who managed to gain the one point he needed with the last shot of the night! The fancy dress award went to Colin and Paul who came as two players just having had a shower.’
