FOR the second year running Tavistock Golf Club played host to the West Devon Tri Golf Festival. The day was organised by the club's PGA professional Simon Invest assisted by Mhari McCall from Active Devon, who promotes sporting activities in West Devon.
Forty eight children from eight schools, whose ages ranged from 7 to 11, competed in a series of games to see who would go on to the final in Exeter.
'The children really enjoyed themselves,' said Simon, 'They were very competitive and really entered into the spirit of the game which is always good to see.'
The winners were Horrabridge School with 81 points and runners up with 75 pts were the team from Gulworthy. Horrabridge will now go on to the finals.
There was close scoring in both divisions of the men's Whitsun Bowl. In division one Ed Smith, with a net 67, won the trophy on countback from Martin Channon. In third place with a net 68 was Dennis Walker.
Viv Williams with net 69 was first in division two on count back from Ross Davies and Peter Anglis.
