A FEW birdies and perhaps the odd eagle have helped the Brentor based children's charity Chicks thanks to East Cornwall golfers.

Last year's Trethorne Golf Club captain, Colin Peters, chose Chicks, who provide breaks for deprived inner city children, and they have raised a superb £3,165.

Chicks fundraiser Mick Ryan said: 'We are very grateful to Colin, the members who have generously contributed, plus visitors to Trethorne Golf Club. The money donated will go towards funding the breaks.'

Chicks are holding its annual charity golf day at Trethorne Golf Club, Launceston on Friday, June 22.

Martin Smith and the Firewatch Group are sponsoring the event. This year there is are 'hole in one' prizes for all par threes including a £5,000 prize for one at the eighth hole.
