OKEHAMPTON Bowling Club members presented cheques from monies they raised to two local charities.

The money came from functions celebrating the Simmons Park club's 90th year and by the committee half the green fees from the pub and club league.

Club president Brian Vernon handed over cheques for £500 to Angela Hammond on behalf of Little Bridge House, children's hospice, and Gaye Hill for Hospice Care in the North Dartmoor area.

Captain Roger Pedrick also thanked all those who had helped work throughout the season to keep the club running. There was a presentation of the club trophies to players by the president.

Winners: mixed triples, A Hardwick, M Luxton and C Hutchings; mixed pairs A Rogers and A Davey; over 60s cup, B Vernon; non-winners cup, M Poole; Tilley two wood, A Davey; Edgecombe pairs, A Davey and A Mathias; A J Newcombe Cup, the Hutchings handicap and the Simmons championship cup, A Mathias.

OBC's annual meeting at will be held at the clubhouse on Monday, November 11 at 7.30pm.
