IN the Tavistock Snooker League champions Tavy A got their season under way with a solid 4-1 win.

The newcomer to the Conservative Z team, Lillicrap (senior), struggled to find an answer to Tavy A’s Anderson and his relentless potting until halfway through, when he came back with a vengeance turning the game into a black ball match, left Anderson struggling to pot the final ball.

No such luck for McKechnie for Con Z, who found it hard going against a slick performance from Dolan and unable to respond to his opponent’s superior play. Con A’s star player of last season, Mayors, likewise struggled to contain Hicks who stayed in control for most of the game and eventually took the frame. With Con A three frames down, it took Hodge and all his experience to turn things around for his team against Lyall, who had little in response to Hodge’s masterful approach. Unfortunately Symons for the Cons could not maintain the pressure on Evans, and despite a spirited effort, failed to gain a point for his team.

Conservative C built on their bright start to the season with another fine 4-1 win over struggling Golf B.

Hall and Davies built the platform for the Con’s with comfortable wins over Gawman and Appleton before Treble, for Golf, with an inspired performance, reduced the deficit by taking out the dangerous Neale.

Davey increased Conservative C’s lead with a tight ‘black ball’ finish over Brockington, followed by a further win for Bassett as he ground out a messy games over ‘new boy’ Scott Davey to make it four on the night for the Con C.
