CHAGFORD Swimming Pool received a visit from both its county councillor and MP recently to discuss the plan for the pool's future.

County councillor James McInnes and Mel Stride MP were shown around the pool's facilities by chairman of the pool Barnaby Dickens, and they discussed the plans for the outdoor pool.

Mel Stride said: 'This is a truly special asset for Chagford and one that is worthy of support going forward. I have offered to help in any way that I can when it comes to fundraising.'

Cllr McInnes also discussed the provision of possible funding and will soon be making a bid to Devon County Council for up to £5,000 to support the maintenance of the pool facilities.

Chagford's pool is the largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool in Devon and is open from late May to early September.

It has a large main pool, children's paddling pool and fully qualified lifeguards.
