IT all happened at the Tavy Club this week in the Tavistock Snooker league with the only certainty being top of table Tavy A beating bottom placed Con C.
No one told Con C's Bassett who proceeded to beat Tavy skipper Stewart to put his team in front. Sadly for Con C's it was all down hill from there. Tavy's Woods edged out Jago 77-71 — this was the league's highest joint score. A rampant Ryall with a 40 break, scored a massive 109 points against a shell shocked Morgan — another record for the league. Regulation wins for Tavy's Hoar and Hicks over Clarridge and Hoare made it a comfortable 4-1 win for Tavy.
Con A kept their push at the top with a flattering 4-1 win over Con Z in a game they could easily have lost. The Z team's Morton played a superb game to oust Lacey on the black to put his side in front. The A team responded with a 'walk in the park' for the returning Babb over Z team non playing captain Brian Palmer. The A team's Evans had to overcome stout resistance from a fired-up Symons followed by his team mate Cooke who squeaked past McKechnie to put Con A 3-1 up. Even Carruthers found it difficult against an obdurate Dodd taking the A player all the way to the colours before Carruthers hit some nice balls to clinch it.
