CONSERVATIVE A continued putting pressure on the Tavistock Snooker league leaders with a good 4-1 win away to West Devon D, as they moved up to second spot.

Evans and Wiles for Con A had little problem in their frames as they took their side two up. Carruthers, likewise, with the league’s highest break of 63 backed up with a 26 for good measure was out of sight in a flash. A superb break this was, containing a flowing break building along with difficult pots at times to keep it all going.

Con A’s Babb, in his first game of the season, soon disposed of West Devon A’s Hooper to make it four for Con A, followed by a consolation for West Devon A with Pinkney finding his potting touch to take the final frame.

Conservative C continued their best start to a season yet with a good away win at West Devon B.

Wins for Dodd and Davies set the scene for Con C with West Devon B’s Hoar sneaking past Bassett, and Roger Rich capitalising on an error on the pink from Jago to level the game. Con C eventually took the match thanks to the cool head of Davey in a black ball finish in a scrappy deciding frame.

Conservative B picked up their first win of the season in an unlikely win over Golf A.

Ewings and Moloney provided two for the Con B with Whitley and Ruth doing the same for Golf A. The deciding factor for Con B though was an unforeseen superb win by Lillicrap over the dangerous Turnbull.

Tavy A showed why they are top of the league with a maximum five over West Devon C.

Despite taking the first two frames, Tavy A’s Dean Anderson and Hicks could so easily have lost to Williams and Shrimpton in close frames. The rest of the match though was a formality with Tavy C’s Evans, Monk and Bradley Anderson encountering little opposition as they swept their side to a 5-0 win.
