AFTER a tentative start to the season at Calstock Chess Club, with several of the team unused to face-to-face chess (as opposed to online matches) the nascent club has hit a winning streak.

The club won its last two games, first against Liskeard in the quick play league and then against league leaders Bude in the Roberts Cup. 

Calstock Chess Club is fortunate to have secured the services of Tavistock’s experienced Devon county player David Twine on board one, who remains undefeated.

Calstock Chess Club meets regularly in the Boot Inn, Calstock on Thursday evenings and all are welcome, from beginners wanting gentle instruction and informal talking/takeback games, to experienced players looking for serious league matchplay.
