THE Year 9 Cricket team from Callington Community College won the County Cricket Championship. They beat Humphry Davey School, Penzance, in the final which was held at Grampound Road Cricket Club. It is the first time in 53 years that the college has won a county cricket championship. All the boys have trained hard all season and been a credit to the College. The team spirit was evident in the final as at the half way stage it looked as if the team would be on the end of a heavy defeat. However, good leadership from Luke Brenton and quality bowling from Robert Piper, Aidan Jacob, Leion Cole and Toby May supported by all players in the field, ensured victory for Callington. Robert Piper was player of the match scoring 28 runs and taking five wickets.  The team are Josh Murray-Dustan, Luke Brenton, Rob Piper, Alex May, Aidan Jacob, Toby May, Mataeo Pearce, Richard Gregg, Alfie Dingle, Leion Cole and Charlie Hickman. The Callington boys will now represent Cornwall in the national championships in September.
